The world will move a minute nearer to nuclear disaster today.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will move the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock to six minutes to midnight.
It will be the Clock's first move since February 2002.

The Clock was first set in 1947, with the aim of becoming an easily recognised symbol of the perils posed by nuclear weapons.

The world does seem to becoming more dangerous. Or that is my perception anyway.
More countries are developing nuclear weapons. Maybe they feel safer if they have an atomic bomb?
Japan is getting worried about North Korea and there is talk in the Japanese press that they can develope their own nuclear capability in 2-3 years.
The Israeli Air force is training for long distance attacks with nuclear capable bombers. The United States Navy is upping the carrier fleet in the Gulf.
Most people don't trust the leaders of the West anymore to do the right thing.
It's all pretty worrying

Here is a modern poem about one persons view of the state of the modern world.
