I sometimes get to feel very negative about Britain, it might be because it's usually the bad stuff that makes the news?

But... somedays, London seems such a nice place. Yesterday was like that:
At Waterloo Station I watched all the travellers rushing about to get their trains and the people boarding the Euroexpress to Disneyland, Paris or Brussels.
I took a slow walk from Waterloo across Hungerford Bridge into the West End and thought what a pleasant city this is.
The sun was shining on the river and the buildings looked beautiful.
Early Saturday morning there isn't much traffic about, it seemed quiet and the air clean.

Memories came back to me of that place:
Once while crossing that bridge a man was trying to jump off, some others and myself hung onto him and tried to talk him out of it, (all I could come up with was that the water would be cold) I had my arms around his legs through the railings while he kept trying to step off backwards, if he had got his feet off the ledge I don't think we could have held him.
Then the police came and dragged him away.

A bit further on I looked across to Big Ben and remembered a happy New Years Eve celebration under that tower as the clock struck midnight.

In Trafalgar Square kids (and adults) were climbing on the bronze lions of Nelson's Column.
There weren't any officials saying 'get off it's dangerous' I was pleased about that.

I helped a tourist who was trying to find his way to The Aldwych.
I thought. 'How did he know I was a Londoner?'

Then I got talking to a Big Issue seller.
He was telling me all about his life and his view on all the problems of the world.
I had time on my hands so it was good to stop and spend some time chatting. He told me that previously he was homeless but now he is in a hostel.
He said that in the past he didn't know how to talk to people and had kind of gone into a shell. Now by selling the Big Issue he has built up his confidence and self esteem.
I said to him that 'he would make a good salesman in any business.'

In Covent Garden I watched a performer doing a comedy routine and someone on one of those really tall unicycles.

Later I also got talking to a shop assistant from the very north of Sweden who told me all about his country.
He loved London and has sort of settled here.
He thought it was a very friendly place "even the cops are friendly." This was someone who has visited every country in Europe and he still said London was the most friendly.
His favourites to visit were Germany and Austria and he said St Petersburg is the most beautiful city especially when covered in snow.
He said the hotels are reasonably cheap there too.

I must go there one day.

Can anyone recommend any other 'must see' places to visit?

India does have some significant places to visit. I'd like a report on the current goings on at the Temple of Kali Ma, in Kolkota. The TV show Heroes has vague reference to the headquarters city of the Theosophical Society. I may even have located a temple location, from Eastern Gandahar.

Indian Geography is a bit vague, something about not publishing roadmaps for the Pakistanis. Europe, the Other Subcontinent, has much better national delineations.

There a few places in the Americas, that might be worth a visit, for the individuals, but I haven't yet the bus fare.

Would anyone be interested in the Holy Grail, or do people just want to talk about it?

I would like to visit India and find it fascinated to read about.
I am thinking about booking one of those trips that start off in Kolkata for a few days then head up into places further north for some mountain walking. Seems that later in the year is better weather wise.
There is a good satellite map of Kolkata here:

You can add your own notes to it.
