I was up at Trafalgar Square today, fairly early.
I was hanging around waiting for the shops to open.
It was a nice sunny morning but cold, the tourists on the open top buses looked freezing.

There was a man in the square carring a Harris Hawk on his arm.
I asked him. 'Is it to get rid of the pigeons?
He said 'It was, but it didn't usually kill them just chases them away'.
The hawk was quite a sight flying up to the tops of walls and statues then back to the owners arm.

I had a look in the National Portrait Gallery. There were the entries for the 2006 photo portraits on display.
I liked this one the best a woman from the Mursi tribe in the Omo valley Ethiopia.

If they keep coming back it seems a bit pointless...

Sounds like a job for life chasing the pigeons from square to square

There are quite a few exotic birds making London their home.

In my local park there are hundreds of Green Parakeets roosting.
I think they are native to the Himalayan foothills.

There are supposed to be two big colonies of the Parakeets in London one in the South East and one in the West.
They are gradually spreading and will soon be one big colony.

Green parakeets were exotic here only a few years ago, now they are common. Especially in Richmond Park.
